Understanding the needs of higher-risk older adult patients can support the delivery of high quality and patient-centered healthcare. We sought to characterize the physical, functional, social and psychological needs of High-Need High-Risk (HNHR) Veterans. We hypothesized that the concept of frailty could be useful in identifying the highest-risk HNHR patients and characterizing their needs.Assessing an individual’s systemic inflammatory state is vital to understand inflammation’s role in cardiometabolic diseases and identify those at the greatest risk of disease. We generated global inflammation scores and investigated their associations with cardiometabolic risk factors and adverse outcomes.
Animal-assisted intervention (AAI) is an effective intervention that improves the mental and physical health. However, few have examined the efficacy of pet insects as a form of AAI for prefrail and frail elderly. This study aimed to ascertain the effects of pet insects on physical performance and psychological health in community-dwelling frail elderly individuals with a chronic disease.Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is a rare but fatal pharmacogenetic disorder, triggered by inhalational anesthetics or succinylcholine. Since the first nonprofit academic organization China Malignant Hyperthermia Emergency Assistance WeChat-based Group (CMHEA Group) was established in 2015, they have actively participated in the diagnosis and treatment of MH patients. Based on the CMHEA Group, the aim of the study was to retrospectively analyze the characteristics of suspected MH in China from 2015 to 2020.
